The Politics of Mass Immigration

Here in the USA we have an ongoing debate about the merits of mass immigration, both legal and illegal, from third world countries. Many of the countries in Europe have the same debate. It was revealed recently why the Labour party in Britain favors mass immigration:

In an astonishingly insouciant article Andrew Neather — a former adviser to Straw, Blair and David Blunkett — revealed that Labour ministers had a hidden agenda in allowing immigrants to flood into the country.
According to Neather, who was present at secret meetings during the summer of 2000, the government had “a driving political purpose” which was: “mass immigration was the way that the government was going to make the UK truly multicultural”.
What’s more, Neather said he came away “from some discussions with the clear sense that the policy was intended — even if this wasn’t its main purpose — to rub the right’s nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date”.
Ministers longed for an immigration boom but wouldn’t talk about it, he wrote. “They probably realised the conservatism of their core voters: while ministers might have been passionately in favour of a more diverse society, it wasn’t necessarily a debate they wanted to have in working men’s clubs in Sheffield or Sunderland.”
The revelations get worse. “There was a reluctance ... in government,” he wrote, “to discuss what increased immigration would mean, above all for Labour’s core white working-class vote.” The social outcomes that ministers cared about were those affecting the immigrants. This, Neather explains, shone out in a report published in 2001 after these confidential deliberations.

It would not surprise me in the least to learn that the true motives of the advocates of mass immigration and amnesty for illegals here in the USA are the same. And this is an issue that cuts across party lines. Republicans like Bush and McCain are just as stupid on the matter as 0bama. They want masses of immigrants from third world countries. No matter if it increases crime, drives down wages and strains schools and public services.

0bama Administration Tries to Stifle Free Speech

One of the things that really agitates the left are the school choice programs and the vouchers for children of poor families to attend decent private schools. They want most children to attend inferior public schools so their curriculum can be selected appropriately. And yet their leaders like 0bama send their own kids to elite private schools. His daughters Sasha and Mallia attend Sidwell Friends in Washington DC.

So, when 0bama and his fellow child-haters in congress came to power, one of the first things they did was to end a highly successful program that provides vouchers for kids in the DC public schools (one of the worst systems that also spends one of the highest amounts per student). Some people are trying to fight to keep the program in place, including Former D.C. Councilmember Kevin Chavous of D.C. Children First. Chavous' group has been running 30 second ads on TV to try to convince 0bama to keep the program. Then read about what happened:

President Obama isn't taking kindly to a television ad that criticizes his opposition to a popular scholarship program for poor children, and his administration wants the ad pulled.
Former D.C. Councilmember Kevin Chavous of D.C. Children First said October 16 that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder had recently approached him and told him to kill the ad.
The 30-second ad, which has been airing on FOX News, CNN, MSNBC, and News Channel 8 to viewers in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, urges the president to reauthorize the federally-funded D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program that provides vouchers of up to $7,500 for D.C. students to attend private schools.
The ad features Chavous and a young boy--one of 216 students whose scholarships were rescinded by the Department of Education earlier this year when the agency announced no new students would be allowed into the program. The ad also includes an excerpt taken from one of Obama's campaign statements.
"We're losing several generations of kids," Obama says, "and something has to be done."
"President Obama is ending a program that helps low-income kids go to better schools, refusing to let any new children in," Chavous says in the ad. "I'm a lifelong Democrat, and I support our president. But it's wrong that he won't support an education program that helps our kids learn."

Fortunately, Chavous is refusing to be intimidated and has continued running the ads.

Eric Holder has no business telling any political group to do anything. The attorney general has violated Chavous' first amendment rights and should be relieved of his duties as attorney general and subjected to criminal prosecution.

Yet Another Reason to Ignore Global Warming Alarmism

We already got enough reasons to choose to do absolutely nothing about the nonexistent global warming. First of all, the atmosphere is not warming. Secondly, if it were it could not be caused by carbon dioxide or methane emissions. And now, some jackass from my profession has given us a third reason. Lord Stern says we need to become vegetarians to fight the nonexistent problem

PEOPLE will need to turn vegetarian if the world is to conquer climate change, according to a leading authority on global warming.

Lord Stern said: "Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world's resources. A vegetarian diet is better."

Direct emissions of methane from cows and pigs is a significant source of greenhouse gases. Methane is 23 times more powerful than carbon dioxide as a global warming gas.

Lord Stern, the author of the influential 2006 Stern Review on the cost of tackling global warming, said that a successful deal at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December would lead to soaring costs for meat and other foods that generate large quantities of greenhouse gases.

He predicted that people's attitudes would evolve until meat eating became unacceptable.

I got no need to evolve, Stern. I like my T-Bones grilled well done, and I like my eggs and sausage for breakfast.

You are the one who needs to evolve, Lord Stern. You are full of solid cow emissions.

0bama Lashes Out at 'Naysayers'

All of us stupid idiots who refuse to recognize the eternal truths of global warming while we sit here shivering in October have been hit out at by His Oneness:

US President Barack Obama on Friday hit out at naysayers he blamed for peddling "cynical" claims that global warming is a myth to derail a landmark climate change bill in Congress.
Obama warned that the closer the Senate came to passing legislation which has already cleared the House of Representatives, the more opponents would resort to underhand tactics.
"The naysayers, the folks who would pretend that this is not an issue, they are being marginalized," Obama warned in a speech at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Hey Barack, I say nay. Send your jack-booted thugs.

Hillary Tells More Lies about Her Experiences in Northern Ireland

Those of us who have followed the career of Her Thighness ever since husband Bill was elected president in 1992 know that the woman feels no need to adhere to the truth. For her, it's simply an impediment to her eternal quest for power. Thus it is no surprise that she has continued telling falsehoods while serving as secretary of state.

But wouldn't it be nice if the Oinkubus would confine her lies to this side of the Atlantic and leave the long-suffering people of Northern Ireland alone? Both sides of the conflict in Ulster have enough troubles of their own without having to deal with that mucked-up gasbag. As there are millions of Americans, both protestant and catholic, whose ancestors came from that small island, the foreign service representatives of the USA (in particular the secretary of state) should serve as catalysts for peace and reconciliation, and not cause derision and devisiveness as Hillary is doing.

Hillary's latest whopper concerns the hotel she and Bill stayed in while visiting in 1995:

Hillary Clinton has “bombed” again with another war story that never happened — this time in Belfast.
She said in a speech at Stormont last week on her whirlwind visit to Northern Ireland that the city’s Europa Hotel was devastated by an explosion when she first stayed there in 1995.
But the last terror strike on the landmark building was 1993 — TWO YEARS before she checked in as First Lady with President husband Bill.
Sunday Life has discovered that renovations had been completed on the hotel in January 1994 — 22 MONTHS before they stayed there.
She told a packed Assembly last Monday: “When Bill and I first came to Belfast, we stayed at the Europa Hotel ... even though then there were sections boarded up because of damage from bombs.”
However, hotel sources have confirmed there was “no way” there was a board in sight when the power couple arrived.
Terrorist Attacks Continue Against Protestants in Northern Ireland

Are the Troubles over in Northern Ireland? Christopher McCaughan doesn't feel that way

A Protestant man has said his family are desperate to leave their home in County Antrim after the latest in a series of sectarian attacks.
Christopher McCaughan's car was covered in paint and windows were smashed at his home on Church Road in Rasharkin in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mr McCaughan said it was the latest in a series of attacks on his home and property and he said he has had enough and wants to leave the area.Police said they are treating the latest incident as a hate crime.

He said "This has been going on since February."I need some help from somebody to try and get me out of this situation that we are having to live through."I want away from here," he said.

Local DUP Councillor John Finlay described the latest incident as "blatantly sectarian".

He said: "Sectarian attacks have been a regular occurrence this year in the town with attacks on a number of Protestant homes as well as the local Orange hall."

The IRA are nothing but cold-blooded marxists and baby-killers. They want Ulster to be combined with the Republic of Ireland into a totalitarian marxist dictatorship, and all Ulster protestants to be killed or forced to leave the country. To get a good idea of what their united Ireland will look like, have a look at Cuba and North Korea.

Socialist Health Care Workers in UK Get Private Health Care

You probably won't see this reported on ABC news nor read about it in the New York Times. The leftist media in the USA and all the idiots who wanted a government-run health care system like to keep their eyes shut when confronted with facts like these from Britain:

THE National Health Service has spent £1.5m paying for hundreds of its staff to have private health treatment so they can leapfrog their own waiting lists.
More than 3,000 staff, including doctors and nurses, have gone private at the taxpayers’ expense in the past three years because the queues at the clinics and hospitals where they work are too long.
Figures released under the Freedom of Information act show that NHS administrative staff, paramedics and ambulance drivers have also been given free private healthcare. This has covered physiotherapy, osteopathy, psychiatric care and counselling — all widely available on the NHS.

As always, actions speak louder than words. The same will probably happen here. The likes of 0bama, Pelosi, and the Clintons will get some type of decent private health care, while the rest of us will wait months or years to see a third-rate physician.

Unionists Walk Out During Hillary's 'Peace' Speech to Northern Ireland Parliament... US Media Doesn't Report It!

Hillary Clinton gave a speech today at Stormont, the parliament of Northern Ireland. According to the Times Online, two unionist politicians walked out in disgust:

Hillary Clinton today experienced first hand the unrelenting mindset of Northern Ireland politics when a number of Unionists refused to applaud her speech to the Stormont parliament and two staged a walkout.

Almost all of the 108 members of the assembly applauded, but a few Democratic Unionist backbenchers folded their arms instead, and two senior figures, William McCrea and Gregory Campbell, left the chamber during the ovation.
Democratic Unionist officials said the walkout reflected Protestant irritation at being told what to do by "outsiders", a point they said they had made earlier in private to Mrs Clinton.

So when our beloved "mainstream" media here in the USA reported on the speech, did they make any mention of the walkout?

CNN? No.

Washington Post? No.

New York Times? No.

Steven Clemons: Socialist Moonbat of the Week
I must give credit where it is due. Many on the left found 0bama's Nobel prize to be ludicrous. But there is at least one "liberal" who found the award to be quite appropriate

But the Nobel Committee's decision to make Obama the only sitting U.S. president since Woodrow Wilson to receive the Nobel Peace Prize shows the committee's clear-headed assessment that Obama's "unclenched fist" approach to dealing with the world's most thuggish leaders has had a constructive, systemic impact on the world's expectations of itself.

Obama has helped citizens all around the world -- including in the United States -- to want a world beyond the mess we have today in the Middle East and South Asia. They want a world where America is benign and positive, and where other leaders help in supporting the struggles of their people for better lives rather than securing themselves through crude power.

You can be as benign as a sheep and it still won't prevent a despot like Ahmadinejad or Kim Jong Il from using nuclear weapons on you. The only way to conduct US foreign policy is to be tough but fair. 0bama is being neither.

Obama has found a way in this interconnected world of cell phones, Twitter, Facebook and other social networking to reach a majority of the world's citizens with his message of hope for a better world. He speaks past the dictators to regular people and has, on the whole, raised global political expectations about everything from climate change to nuclear nonproliferation in ways that no one in history has done before.
No Steven. 0bama has spoken past the regular people to suck up to dictators like Ahmadinejad in Iran and would-be dictators like Zelaya in Honduras. And no, falling for a hoax like man-made climate change doesn't help anything.

Americans tend to look at everything from a U.S.-centric lens, and many woke up this morning shocked that Obama, who just saw a lot of his political capital wasted on trying to secure the 2016 Olympics for his hometown of Chicago, has gotten a fresh injection of sizzle to fill the Obama bubble.

Steven you appear to be looking at everything through opaque lenses. 0bama got as much ridicule from abroad as he did in the USA for accepting the ludicrous Nobel prize.

Update: Steve Clemons has thanked us for the honor.

Flip-flopper of the Week: Professor Stephen Schneider of Stanford University

Professor Stephen Schneider of Stanford University is a strong advocate of global warming. He is a senior member of the International Panel on Climate Change, and a close advisor to Al Gore. In the above video, you can see how he once advocated a forthcoming ice age!

I wanted to comment on another thing I heard in the video. Schneider says "Watch out about being on the coasts..." in response to a question about how people should handle the imminent global warming catastrophe. The below map shows where he lives and works, in Stanford, California near Palo Alto:

Schneider's location is marked with the "A". He is approximately five miles away from San Francisco Bay and about 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean. If global warming will be such a catastrophe for people living on the coasts, Schneider doesn't act like he's too concerned about it. I have written previously about how Al Gore purchased a $4 million apartment mere blocks away from San Francisco Bay.
Actions speak louder than words.
I tried calling Schneider at his home to get his thoughts on this matter. A woman answered the phone and said he was not at home.

British Labour Party Offered Extortion Money To Gaddafi in 1975

I read stuff like this and a lightbulb appears above my head. No wonder why there has been so much trouble with terrorism from Sinn Fein/IRA and the islamofascists. The leftwing idiots in the British Labour Party have made it profitable for them to be terrorists.

Britain offered to pay Colonel Muammar Gaddafi £14 million in return for Libya ending its military support for the IRA, secret papers have revealed.

The deal, worth £500m today, was part of a package of compensation measures to appease the Libyan leader and help open up trade with the North African state during the late 1970s.
Discovery of the secret offer, detailed in a letter sent by the then prime minister, Harold Wilson, raises fresh questions about whether Britain has ever paid Gaddafi compensation.
Jason McCue, the lawyer currently negotiating with the Libyans on behalf of victims of IRA bombings, said he was astonished that Britain was prepared to pay-off the Libyans.

I wonder if the USA ever paid off Gaddafi. We know that Jimmy Carter once offered Ayatollah Khomeini millions in bribe money to release American hostages.

Instapunk Nails It Again

In a post concerning the Roman Polanski matter, Instapunk gives us an interesting insight into the nature of the 'elites' who feel Polanski should be set free:

the tone-deaf defense of this sexual offender by elites in show business, the media, and other centers of power should serve as a warning to the rest of us that the rational utopia being plotted for us by the most gifted, intelligent, and highly educated among us is a post-modern nightmare almost beyond imagining. Kind of like The Ninth Gate. Is this really the nature of the illuminated elite we're being asked to defer to and trust?

Whatever they say, and no matter how eloquently and persuasively they say it, the elites who are so convinced they know better than we do how our lives should be lived, regulated, and confined lack a true moral compass. Their decisions on elementary questions of right and wrong change depending on who the subject of consideration is, not what the applicable principles of morality and justice might be to the ancient legal standard of the "reasonable man."

This reminds me of the entire controversy over affirmative action. And it shows that the 'elites' really do lack a moral compass. They feel that they can solve problems concerning racial discrimination with racial discrimination.

U.S. Sept non-farm payrolls plunge 263,000

How much worse does the economy have to get before people realize 0bama and his goons in Washington are up to no good?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. employers cut a deeper-than-expected 263,000 jobs in September, lifting the unemployment rate to 9.8 percent, according to a government report on Friday that fueled fears the weak labor market could undermine economic recovery.

The Labor Department said the unemployment rate was the highest since June 1983 and payrolls had now dropped for 21 consecutive months.
Analysts polled by Reuters had expected non-farm payrolls to drop 180,000 in September and the unemployment rate to rise to 9.8 percent from 9.7 percent the prior month. The poll was conducted before reports, including regional manufacturing surveys, showed some deterioration in employment measures.
The government revised job losses for July and August to show 13,000 more jobs lost than previously reported. Preliminary annual benchmark revisions, released together with September's employment report showed that total non-farm payroll employment for March would have to be revised down about 824,000.

So what is His Holiness doing wrong?

(1) 0bama's 'stimulus' bill is diverting hundreds of billions from the private sector to inefficient pork projects that wikll have little or no benefit to the economy.

(2) His planned 'cap-and-trade' will add billions in taxes to businesses and consumers in order to solve a nonexistent global warming problem.

(3) His plans to nationalize the health care system will also harm the economy and make it difficult for most people to obtain decent health care.

(4) His plans to give amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens will allow them to continue taking jobs away from law-abiding American citizens and also entice millions more illegals to enter the USA. Also, the illegals have driven down the wages for unskilled labor.

#13: Catherine Zeta Jones
The Undemocratic EU

And please note that's "democratic" with a small d. The Democrat party here in the USA has recently shown itself to be downright hostile towards democracy.

The 25-member European Union is adopting a new constitution. You would think they would give their voters the courtesy of allowing them to decide whether or not to adopt it. But the problem is, the nondemocrats in Brussels have tried that before and the voters in countries such as France and Denmark have rejected it.

So, they got the bright idea to call it a 'treaty' (the Lisbon treaty) and they want to adopt it in spite of the fact that most of the people in Europe don't want it. The only problem is, the constitution of the Republic of Ireland requires a referendum before adopting any such 'treaty'. A total of 4 million people out of the 491 million in the EU were allowed to vote. The Irish voted it down last year, and the nondemocrats refuse to accept that.

So they are having another referendum to try to get it passed. And if this doesn't work, they will keep trying until it passes.

Europe is watching Ireland anxiously on the eve of the second referendum. And while the "yes" camp seemed to be in the lead for weeks, the aggressive campaign against the Lisbon Treaty now appears to be swaying undecided voters.

Notice how Der Spiegel claims that Europe is watching Ireland 'anxiously', as if its a matter of life or death that the 'treaty' is passed. And the campaign against the treaty is referred to as 'aggressive'. As if there's nothing aggressive about asking for a revote when the first vote doesn't go your way.

I feel the same way about government officials here in the USA. And that includes many Republicans as well as Democrats. They don't give a damn about what we want.
