There are enough economists in Chicago to gag a maggot




I am spending a couple days in Chicago for the ASSA meetings. Every year, thousands of economists gather at these meetings to see if we can contrive to make the dismal science even more dismal. Above is a pic of Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke speaking at a luncheon.




Here are Nobel Laureates Gary Becker, Robert Lucas and Thomas Sargent just after they spoke at a session in tribute to Milton Friedman. These three, along with Friedman, played a major role in shredding the Keynesian orthodoxy back in the 1960s and 1970s. If it were not for a few brave men like these, the Left would probably have had their way with the US economy and we would be living in a third world hellhole right now.
