Are the 0bama Administration 'Repairing' US Relations with the World?

We have heard the conventional leftist wisdom many times. How the Bush administration damaged relations with countries around the world. Secretary of State Oinkubus has said it many times:

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that world leaders are joining in a collective sigh of relief as President Obama's foreign policy team begins dismantling the policies of the Bush administration.
"There's a great exhalation of breath going on around the world as people express their appreciation for the new direction that's being set, and the team that's put together by the president to carry out our foreign policy goals," Clinton said after telephoning dozens of world leaders in her first five days on the job. "We have a lot of damage to repair."

"In areas of the world that have felt either overlooked, or not receiving appropriate attention for the problems they are experiencing, there's a welcoming of the engagement that we are promising," she said.

From the website of the Belgian Vlaams Belang party:

US Embassy Makes a 'Mistake'

26.01.2009 - Three weeks ago, all Belgian Senators of the Committee of Foreign Affairs received an invitation of the American embassy to attend the inauguration of the 44th President of the USA, Barack Obama, at the Brussels’ residence of the American ambassador. However, on the morning of inauguration day (January 20th), the US embassy made a phone call to our party, claiming the invitation was “a mistake.” Vlaams Belang was not welcome…

The behaviour of the American embassy is inappropriate for the world’s largest democracy. Furthermore, it is not the task of an embassy to become actively involved in the internal politics of another nation. By making a distinction between Senators on the basis of their political ideology, the US embassy does not differ from the so-called “democratic” Belgian state.

Vlaams Belang is the largest party in Flanders. When they come to power, are Hillary and her boss Barack going to have any clout there? I think not.
