Mikey Knife-Honk, disgraced former purveyor of false prosecutions, has asked the state of North Carolina to pay for his legal defense for the lawsuit that the three innocent lacrosse players have brought against him, the city of Durham, and numerous officers in the Durham police department.
The state attorney general's office denied his request:
The state must refuse to provide for such representation if the Attorney General determines that the actions or omissions were not within the scope of the employee's official duties; the acts or omissions involved fraud, corruption, or malice; defense of the actions would create a conflict of interest; or, defense of the actions would not be in the best interest of the state.
And remember, Mikey, your quest for legal representation is evidence of your guilt. That's what you said about the three lacrosse players.
Update: Mikey reportedly said to his attorney today: "I don't know why I continue to expect people to do the right thing". I am trying to think of an appropriate response to that statement, but words fail me.
